Luz Leann Simons

Rock Rapids, IA        Luz Simons age 44 of Rock Rapids, IA died Friday May 26, 2017, at Sanford Hospital in Rock Rapids.        Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday June 1, 2017 at Faith Baptist Church in Rock Rapids, IA with Rev. Jeff Poppenga, officiating.        Visitation with the family present will be from 10:00 until time of service at the Faith Baptist Church in Rock Rapids.        Luz Leann Simons was born November 16, 1972, at Pierre, SD the daughter of Robert and Beverly (Fahlsing) Putnam. Luz grew up at Yankton & Bonestill, SD. She graduated from Yankton High School and attended Mitchell Tech in Mitchell, SD. She was united in marriage to Dan Simons on April 24, 1999, at Yankton, SD. They made their home in Yankton, SD, Ireton, IA and Rock Rapids, IA.   Over the years she was employed by Total Card, Subway, Total Component Solutions and Capital One. Luz attended Celebrate Church and Faith Baptist Church in Rock Rapids. She enjoyed scrapbooking, crafts, camping, making dream catchers, painting, fishing, shooting black powder rifles and attending pow wows. Luz died suddenly this past Friday, May 26, 2017, at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 44.      She was survived by her husband, Dan Simons of Rock Rapids, IA; her children, Codey Blakey of Rock Rapids, IA; Kaylie Blakey of Rock Rapids, IA; Danny Simons, Jr. of Rock Rapids, IA; Shelbie Simons of Rock Rapids, IA; Windy (Daniel Newby) Simon-Newby of Kansas along with four grandchildren.      Luz was preceded in death by her mother, Beverly.
