Hills, MN Leo Bos age 59 of Hills, MN died Wednesday June 14, 2017 at the Sanford Hospice Cottage in Luverne, MN. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Monday, June 19th at Bethel Reformed Church in Lester, IA with Rev. Jeremy Wiersma officiating. Burial will follow at East Side Cemetery in Steen, MN. Visitation will be Sunday, June 18th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM with the family present from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of Hills, MN. Leo Dean Bos was born August 11, 1957 in Luverne, MN to Lyle and Dorothy (Vander Steen) Bos. He graduated in 1975 from Hills Beaver Creek High School. As soon as Leo’s feet could reach the pedals he wanted to be a trucker and follow in his Dad’s footsteps. Over the years, he drove for Lyle Bos Trucking, Midwest Coast in Sioux Falls, PK Trucking in Omaha, Ryder Trucking in California, Folkens trucking in Lester, TR Trucking in Lester and ended his trucking career with his own truck under Barney’s Trucking. In 2010 Leo was diagnosed with end stage renal disease and began home dialysis. He was able to continue trucking for a few more years and do the dialysis treatments while on the road. Leo had a great love for all sports but especially enjoyed Nascar and Sprint Car races, Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings. Leo made many friends over the years and always had a humorous story or joke to tell even when he didn’t feel well. He also had a special relationship with all those involved with his renal care. His doctors and nurses all meant a lot to him and were his second family. Leo passed away June 14, 2017 at the age of 59 surrounded by his family and special friends at the Luverne Hospice Cottage. He is survived by his sisters, Lila (Bill) Kroon of Rock Rapids, IA, Lora (Bob) Sayler of Sioux Falls, SD, and Lois (Doug) Boeve of Beaver Creek, MN; and special friends, John and Susan VandenBerg and very special “buddy” Kaden VandenBerg; many nieces and nephews; four aunts, Henrietta Bos of Hills, MN, Joan Bos of Sioux Falls, SD, Min Bosch of Luverne, MN and Marie Veldhuizen of Edgerton, MN. Leo was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Dorothy Bos.
