Estellyn “Esty” Metzger age 87 of Hills, MN died Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Tuff Memorial Home in Hills, MN. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Apostolic Christian Church in Lester, IA. Burial will follow in the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery at Lester, IA. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 21st with family present from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Hall in Lester. Estellyn “Esty” Eileen (Banwart) Metzger was born January 30, 1930, at West Bend, IA the daughter of Paul and Elizabeth (Benninger) Banwart. She grew up on the family farm in West Bend, IA and graduated from West Bend High School in 1948. Believing in God, she was baptized in the Apostolic Christian Church and was a member since 1949. Esty worked at home from the time she graduated until she was united in marriage on October 7, 1951, to Fredrick Metzger at West Bend, IA. Fredrick and Esty made their home on a farm near Hills, MN where they raised their family. Esty was employed at the Tuff Memorial Home in Hills for many years beginning in 1984. In 1988 Freddie and Esty moved into Hills.On August 26, 1999, Esty’s husband, Freddie died. Esty resided in Lester,IA for several years before becoming a resident of the Tuff Memorial Home in Hills on June 2, 2014. Esty is survived by her children, Tom (Deb) Metzger of Larchwood, IA; Beth (Dennis) Hartter of Sabetha, KS; Mark (Audrey) Metzger of Larchwood, IA; Kevin (Dawn) Metzger of Rock Rapids, IA; Diane (Tedd) Larson of Hills, MN; Luann (Aaron) Schmidgall of Mediapolis, IA and son-in-law, Rod (Sue) Bajema of Larchwood, IA; 27 grandchildren; 56 great grandchildren; siblings, Alice Metzger of Rock Rapids, IA; Lela Banwart of West Bend, IA; Paul Jr. (Emmy) Banwart of Casa Grande, AZ; Bob (Kay) Banwart of Ruthven, IA; sisters-in-law, Madelyn Banwart of West Bend, IA; Ada Banwart of Mediapolis, IA and Betty Banwart of West Bend, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter Twyla Bajema, five brothers, Arthur, Elmer, Edwin, Arnold and Benji and three sisters, Clara Anliker, Miriam Frieden and Leona Wulf.
