Myrna Ileene Trei

Sibley, IA        Myrna Trei age 93 of Sibley, IA died Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the Country View Manor in Sibley, IA.        Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the Zoar Presbyterian Church rural George, IA, with Reverend Dale Lint officiating.        Burial will follow at the Gilman Township Cemetery of Ashton.        Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.        Myrna Ileene (Kruger) Trei was born on November 12, 1923 on a farm near George, IA, the daughter of Jake and Irene (Hassebroek) Kruger. Myrna grew up in the Ashton area and graduated from the Ashton High School in 1942. In her younger years, she played basketball and softball and had the opportunity to play softball at the World’s Fair. She was a homemaker for most of her life but she also worked outside the home at Priebe’s Egg Processing. She was a CNA and worked for both nursing homes in Sibley for a time. Myrna loved to bake birthday cakes for neighbors, wedding cakes and cinnamon rolls were one of her specialties. She enjoyed a good game of cards, crocheting, fishing, and the joy of spending time with and taking care of her grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling on a few bus tours. Myrna enjoyed music.  She played the harmonica, accordion and piano all by ear.  She also sang along and listened to various music selections.         Myrna is survived by her five children: Dennis (Michelle) Trei of Okoboji, IA, Steven (Sandy) Trei of Van Meter, IA, James (Linda) Trei of Rock Rapids, IA, Fredrich II (Carol) Trei of George, IA and Elizabeth (Lyle) Ver Steeg of Sibley, IA; daughter-in-law, Cora Trei of Little Rock, IA; eighteen grandchildren: Timothy, Heather, Angela, Georjette, Alan, Jeffery, Daniel, Jen, Chad, Anthony, Abby, Krista, Amanda, Callie, Lacey, Fredrich III, Rachael and Emily; 25 great-grandchildren; one brother, Leon (Marge) Kruger of Worthington, MN; one sister, Janice (Conrad) Krans of Coon Rapids, MN; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.        She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Alan Trei; three sisters, Lavina Ferriera, Fern O’Brien and Anita Jobes; two brothers, Arlyn and Lorin Kruger.
