Ronald Theodore Olson

Rock Rapids, IA      Ronald Olson, age 94 of Rock Rapids, IA died Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at Lyon Specialty Care in Rock Rapids.        Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2017 at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids.      Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids, with the military honors by Van Anne-Fields VFW Post 6960 and Rex-Strait American Legion Post 103.        Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids.        Ronald Theodore Olson was born to Theodore and Alfeida (Horn) Olson on September 28, 1922. He attended country school and later graduated from Wilson High School in Rock Rapids. Ronald enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on the 23rd day of April 1945. He served as a guard at a U.S. Naval base in Florida.      After the war, he returned home to farm with his family northwest of Rock Rapids.      On January 9, 1957, he was united in marriage to Clara Ann Kuhl in Worthington, MN. They continued to farm and after retiring from farming they moved into Rock Rapids in October of 2012.      In April of 2014, Ronald was admitted to Lyon Manor Care Center (now Lyon Specialty Care) in Rock Rapids.        Ronald is survived by his wife of 60 years, Clara Olson of Rock Rapids; sister-in-law, Margaret Kuhl of Madison, SD; brother-in-law, Carl (Ruby) Kuhl of Columbia Heights, MN; and other nieces, nephews and other extended family.        He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Eugene Olson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Frances Kuhl; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Darlene and Arend Folkens; and brother-in-law, Leo Kuhl.
