 Rock Rapids, IA        Amanda Becker age 99 of Rock Rapids, IA died Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Lyon Specialty Care in Rock Rapids, IA        Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Bethel Reformed Church, rural Little Rock, IA with Rev. Matt Miller, officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Reformed Cemetery.        Visitation will be Friday, August 4th from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids.        Amanda Christina Becker was born April 11, 1918 in Dell Rapids, SD to Peter and Ella (Klinger) De Buhr. She was raised in Dell Rapids and received her education at Herman Township Country School and graduated from Ellsworth High School in Ellsworth, MN in 1938. She continued her education and obtained her Teachers Certificate from Iowa Teachers College in Cedar Falls, IA. Amanda taught country school near Little Rock. On June 16, 1950, she was united in marriage to Harm Becker at the Bethel Reformed Church. She and her husband farmed near Little Rock, IA. Harm passed away at the age of 44 on April 23, 1957. Following her husband’s death, Amanda and her children moved to Rock Rapids. She worked many retail jobs in Rock Rapids over the years. Amanda also worked for many years at the Merrill Pioneer Hospital and became head of housekeeping. She retired from Merrill Pioneer Hospital. She was a lifelong member of Bethel Reformed Church rural Little Rock. She enjoyed sewing and embroidery. The love of her life was her family. Amanda enjoyed visiting with them very much.           She is survived by her daughter, Karen Becker of Storm Lake, IA; sons, Harlyn Becker of Doon, IA and Arlyn Becker of Rock Rapids, IA; five grandchildren, Aaron (Joni) De Vos of Cherokee, IA, Carissa De Vos of Ankeny, IA, Bridget (Cory) Vaudt of Ankeny, IA, Rachel Becker of Hartford, SD and Robin (Scott) Eggink of Belle Plaine, IA; fifteen great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth and brother-in-law John Van Aartsen of Rock Rapids; and other extended family members.           She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harm Becker; brother, Calvin and his wife Pearl; sister, Margaret and her husband Weert; sister, Christina and her husband Joe; brother, Herman and his wife Ethel; and brother, Elmer and his wife Alma.
