Earl Klosterman age 90 of Ashton, IA died Wednesday, August 9th, 2017 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Monday, August 14, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ashton, with Father Kevin Richter and Father Siby Punnoose as concelebrants. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Ashton. Visitation will be Sunday, August 13th, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ashton. There will be a rosary at 4:00 PM and vigil service at 7:00 PM. Earl Klosterman was born July 2, 1927, on a farm five miles east of Ashton, the son of Ed and Anna (Spartz) Klosterman. He graduated in 1945, from St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Ashton. He farmed for many years on the home farm. He married Beverly Foley on September 2, 1950 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Sibley. They lived on the family farm until 1953 and then moved into Ashton. He continued to farm for a few years and was also an assessor and sold Pioneer seed corn. Then for many years he sold fire equipment and fire trucks and after retirement he continued to deliver fire and rescue trucks throughout the country. He also was a lay director, lector and lay distributor at St. Mary’s in Ashton. He was on the town council and a member of the 100 club. He and his wife were snow birds for many years in Arizona City, AZ. He is survived by his four children, JoAnn Oster of West Des Moines, IA, Douglas (wife Rita) Klosterman of Ankeny, IA, Karen (husband Bob) Teeselink of Harrisburg, SD and Connie (husband Bob) Roitenberg of Casa Grande, AZ; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; sister, Marian Richter of Ruthven, IA; 2 sisters-in-law, Shirley Klosterman of Sibley, IA and Bonnie Klosterman of Ashton, IA; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family members. Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Anna Klosterman; his precious wife of 58 years, Beverly Klosterman; son-in-law, Evan Oster; brothers, Otto, Walter, Donald, Maurice and his twin brother, Ervin.
