Rock Rapids, IA Florence Kitchenmaster, age 94 of Rock Rapids, IA, died Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at Rock Rapids Health Centre in Rock Rapids. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 18, 2017 at the Peace Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids, IA, with Reverend Mark Hansen officiating. Burial will follow the lunch in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery rural Steen, MN. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Peace Lutheran Church of Rock Rapids and/or Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Steen, MN. Florence Clara Ida Kitchenmaster was born March 3, 1923 at the home place near Steen, Minnesota, the daughter of John and Emma (Lauck) Kitchenmaster. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church near Steen, MN. She was raised on the family farm and attended Allison Township Country School. She helped with the family farm and worked as a helper for relatives and families in the area in her younger years. She lived most of her adult life on the family farm helping her brother Louie with daily chores. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids, active with Daughters of Peace and Quilters Group. She enjoyed baking, needle work and playing card games. She also took many bus trips with her brother Louie. Florence provided care for her mother, until her death. She also provided care for her brother Louie when his health began to fail. In 1980, she and Louie moved to a home in Rock Rapids, IA, where she remained living until her death. She is survived by her two sisters, Nora Ranschau of Rock Rapids, IA and Doris Stegenga of Sioux Falls, SD; nieces and nephews, Carol Weber and Dolores Weber, both of Luverne, MN, Wayne (Chris) Ranschau of Doon, IA, Brenda (Gary) Richardson of Alton, IA, Beverly Kitchenmaster of Sioux Falls, SD, Marsha Kitchenmaster of Rock Rapids, IA, Douglas (Colleen) Stegenga of Sioux Falls, SD, and Dale Stegenga of Madison, SD; and many other extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Emma Kitchenmaster; two sisters, Ella Weber and Edna Kitchenmaster; two brothers, Louis and Norman Kitchenmaster; three brothers-in-law, Harold Weber, Carl Ranschau, and Pete Stegenga; and sister-in-law, Margaret Kitchenmaster.
