Rock Rapids, Iowa Rosie Kahl, age 69 of Rock Rapids, IA died Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, after a courageous battle with cancer. Memorial service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 2nd at First Reformed Church in Rock Rapids, IA, with Rev. Dan Haggar officiating. Private family burial will take place prior to service at Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids. Visitation will be Friday, September 1st from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, with family present 5:00 to 8:00 PM at First Reformed Church in Rock Rapids. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to: Lyon County Atlas, First Reformed Church of Rock Rapids and/or Touch of Hope. Rosie (Rosalyn) Kahl was born November 12, 1947 in Hudson, SD to John and Tillie (Van’t Land) VerBurg. She attended country school, Inwood Christian School and graduated from West Lyon in 1965. She obtained an accounting degree from West Sioux Community College in 1985. She married Lyle Kahl on June 2, 1965. They eventually moved to Rock Rapids, IA. Rosie retired in 2010 after 23 years at the FSA office in Rock Rapids. She was active in her church, helping with Cherubs Choir, playing in the Hand Bell Choir, leading Grace Circle and as a mentor mom in MOPS. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Lyle Kahl of Rock Rapids; daughters, Holli Spitler of Sioux Falls, SD and Tracy (Eric) Arnold of Shawnee, KS; sons, Michael (Marilyn) Kahl of Southington, CT and Marcus (Kristi) Kahl of Rock Rapids.; son-in-law, Ken Boudreau of Pickering, Ontario; six grandchildren, Bailey, Julia, Emily, Elise, Bethany and Jasper; sister, Eleanor Faber; sister-in-law, June VerBurg; along with many nieces and nephews and other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, daughter, Dixie Boudreau-Kahl who had lived in New York state; and brother, Bernard.
