Ashton, IA Elaine Wellendorf age 90 of Ashton, IA died Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Country View Manor in Sibley, IA. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 22, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ashton, IA with Fr. Timothy Hogan, celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at Ashton, IA. Visitation will be Thursday, September 21st from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ashton. There will be a Rosary at 5:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ashton. Jurrens Funeral Home of Ashton is in charge of arrangements. Elaine Ann (Hatting) Wellendorf was born September 27, 1926 at Ashton, IA the daughter of Ben J. Hatting and Margaret E. Meinen. She grew up in Ashton an attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School. She was united in marriage to Duane "Dewey" Wellendorf on April 28, 1948 at Ashton, IA. They made their home at Fridley Minnesota from 1960 - 1986 and then moved to Ashton. Elaine worked for Glen L. Martin (bomber plant) in Omaha, she and her husband owned a Jewelry Store in Rock Rapids and later managed two mobile home parks in Minneapolis area. Elaine was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church Guild and the American Legion Auxillary. Duane died in October of 2008 and as Elaine’s health declined she became a resident of Country View Manor in Sibley where she died this past Tuesday morning, September 19, 2017 at the age of ninety. She is survived by three sisters and one brother, Elda (Gordon) Keeton of Mitchell, SD; Della (Robert) Wesselink of Decatur, IL; Marjorie O'Toole of Sibley, IA and Clarence Hatting of Brinhan City, VT; and other extended family. Elaine was precede in death by her husband, Dewey; her parents; siblings, John Hatting; Adam Hatting; Alma Hons; Leonard Hatting; Andrew Hatting and Eldon Hatting.
