Margaret W. Lafrenz

     Margaret W. LaFrenz, age 96 of Rock Rapids, IA died Friday, October 6, 2017 at the Rock Rapids Health Centre in Rock Rapids, IA.       Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids, with Rev. Dan Kordahl officiating.  Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids.       Visitation will be Monday, October 9th from 5 – 7 PM, with the family present at Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids.      In lieu of flowers family wish memorials to be directed at a later date.      Margaret W. LaFrenz was born September 24, 1921 in Germany to Henry Peter and Anna Christina (Hollmer) Delfs. Her father Henry came to the United States in 1923 to Hinton, IA. Margaret and her mother, Pete and her mom’s two cousins came to Hinton October 24, 1924. She attended school in Hinton and Lawton until 8th grade. Then she helped at home. The family moved to Rock Rapids in 1940. She married Herb LaFrenz on July 2, 1944. The couple made their home outside of Rock Rapids and farmed until 1977 when Herb passed away on January 28, 1977. She remained on the farm until October 1979 and then moved into town. She enjoyed babysitting for her grandchildren and quilting at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was very involved with church committees and activities such as VBS and Ladies Circle. She enjoyed crocheting and gardening. This past Friday, Margaret passed away at the Rock Rapids Health Centre at the age of 96. She will be greatly missed.        Margaret is survived by her children, Rick (Charlene) LaFrenz of Foley, MN and daughter-in-law, Marilyn LaFrenz of Rock Rapids; grandchildren, Kip (Julie) LaFrenz of Sioux Falls, SD, Heidi LaFrenz of Sioux Falls, SD, Shawn Schenk of Sioux Center, IA, Heath (Becka) LaFrenz of Hull, IA, and Brent (Becky) LaFrenz of Bloomington, MN; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Ray (Janice) Delfs of Rock Rapids, IA; sister, Eunice (John) McCarty of Larchwood, IA; nieces, nephews and other extended family members.        She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert Carson LaFrenz; son, Ron LaFrenz; brothers, Pete, Adrian, Gary, and Alvin; and sister, Phyllis.
