Ashton, IA Michael Fox, age 64 of Ashton, IA died unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 30th at the First Reformed Church in Sibley, IA, with Heath DeJong officiating. Burial will follow in the Holman Township Cemetery of Sibley. Visitation will be Sunday, October 29th from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. Michael James Fox was born January 3, 1953 in Sibley, Iowa to George and Rosella (Krogman) Fox. Growing up Mike worked for Glen Nasers, throughout his high school years. At the time of his death he had just started working for Doeden Farms of Sibley. Over the years he worked at Noteboom RV, Pella Windows and Chase Bag Company. It was at Chase Bag that he met his wife of 28 years, Michelle Van Der Sloot. The two joined in marriage at the First Reformed Church of Sibley and were then blessed with their two sons, Jacob and Tyler. Mike was a member of First Reformed Church of Sibley, he enjoyed camping with his family, raising and showing sheep, playing “grandpa’s card game” and spending time with his granddaughters. He is survived by his wife, Michelle; their two sons, Jacob (Sami) Fox of Ocheyedan, IA and Tyler Fox of Price, UT; one daughter, Becky (Troy) Ackerman of Sheldon, IA, and two sons of previous marriage; three granddaughters, Kami, Lexi, and Norah; and one great granddaughter, Charlotte; one brother, Dan (Rose) Fox of Hastings, NE; two sisters, Janet Hayden of Sibley, IA and Pam (Terry) Nachtigal of Little Rock, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Sr. and Rose Fox and a brother, George Fox, his uncle Rob Fox, and aunt Alice Fox.
