Sibley, IA John Schulte, age 78 of Sibley, IA died Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Sibley Specialty Care in Sibley. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 20th at the First Baptist Church rural George, IA, with Reverend Dr. Mike Hagan officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, November 19th with the family present from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley, IA. John Folkert Schulte was born on March 11, 1939 in Little Rock, IA, the son of Herman and Jennie Eliza (De Boer) Schulte. He grew up in the Lyon County area. John accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized at the age of nine. On August 26, 1977, he was united in marriage to Barbra Jean Meernik at the Christian Reformed Church in Sanborn, IA. They made their home in Sibley, IA. John worked for Campbell Soup in Worthington, MN and later retired after thirty-six years of service. John was a very caring person, when he saw a need he would do his best to help. He was a unique fellow not caring about himself, but always thinking of others. John is survived by his wife of forty years, Barbra Schulte of Sibley, IA; four siblings, ArDale (Janet) Schulte of Kingston, GA, Michael (Diane) Schulte of Sibley, IA, Joan (Henry) Boneschans of Sibley, IA, and Lena Ruddy of Sibley, IA; and many other extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Jennie Schulte; and father and mother-in-law, Gilbert and Bertha Meernik; two nephews, Brad Ruddy and Brian Boneschans; and brother-in-law, Jim Ruddy.
