Norma Visser was born July 4th, 1930 at George, IA the child of Elra and Freida (Bruns) Jacobs. She grew up at George, IA where she attended George High School and later attended Iowa State Teacher's College earning her Teaching Certificate to teach in a rural school. Norma was united in marriage to David Visser on June 10, 1949 at Ebenezer Presbyterian at George. They made their home in George. Norma was a Teacher, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother. She loved her family and friends very much. Although the last few years had been difficult physically and emotionally, she faced every new day with a smile on her face. The annual gathering of her family on the Fourth of July was something she always looked forward to. She would always say, "They celebrate my birthday with a parade!". Years of playing the role of Mrs. Santa (of course Dave was Santa), brought her so much happiness. From her church family to her bridge and early morning coffee friends, she enjoyed the time spent. She loved reminiscing about her students in that old country school and her life on the farm. She enjoyed traveling and was able to see the world with the love of her life, Dave. In her words, "Life has been good. I am ready". She is where she wanted to be now, with Dave and those that have gone before. She will be missed, but she will be fondly remembered. Thank you to her family at Good Samaritan. Special thanks go to Jessica and Macy (her other daughters from another mother). Norma was a member of the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in George. She is survived by daughters, Vicki (Leland) Rath of Sun Lakes, AZ, Dee (Steven) Tinnin Flushing, MI, and Jean (Brian) Harms of Belle Fourche, SD; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other extended family members. Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Dave; parents, Elra and Freida Jacobs; parents-in-law, Arthur and Jennie Visser; sister and brother-in-law, Enola and Dick Harberts.
