George, IA        Thomas Mitchell age 69 of George, IA died Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center in Sheldon, IA.        Private Family Burial will be at Evergreen Lawn Cemetery at George, IA with Pastor Brian Schafer, officiating.        Visitation will be Thursday, January 11th, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of George, IA.        Thomas Lindsay Mitchell was born April 5th, 1948 at Luverne, Minnesota, the child of Delmer and Phyllis (Horne) Mitchell. He was raised in Luverne and attended Luverne High School. He continued his education at Wilmar Technical Institute studying Technical Illustrated in 1972.        Tom lived in many parts of the area including Luverne, MN and Sheldon, IA, prior to moving to George, IA in 2014. He worked as a manager, a QC Technician, and a Printing Press Operator for most of his life, where he displayed a knack for solving problems and improving efficiency.         Tom was a man of many hobbies. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, flying and building aircraft. He mostly enjoyed the time spent with his grandchildren. He made sure to keep them supplied with a new batch of cookies every couple of weeks. He had the ability to make anyone smile and brighten the days of those he interacted with. He also enjoyed his two golden retrievers, Piper and Lucy.      Tom is survived by his two sons, Matt (wife, Sherry) Mitchell, George, IA and Seth Mitchell of Eden Praire, MN; four grandchildren, Kirra, Mason, Sydney and Kade Mitchell; brothers and sisters, Bill Mitchell of Kenneth MN, Jack (wife, Cheryl) Mitchell of Brandon, SD, Michael Mitchell of St. Cloud, MN, Jean (husband, Lester) Norberg of Soldier, Kansas; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.      He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kriston; parents, Delmer and Phyllis Mitchell; brother, Delmer Mitchell; and sister, Cynthia Stroud.
