Rock Rapids, IA        David Hill age 57, of Rock Rapids, IA died Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley, IA, after a couragous battle with cancer.        Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, January 10th at Holy Name Catholic Church in Rock Rapids. Burial will follow at Holy Name Catholic Cemetery near Rock Rapids.           Visitation will be Tuesday, January 9th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, with family present from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids. There will also be a 7:00 PM Vigil service at the funeral home Tuesday night.        Memorials may be directed to Sanford Hospice and/or donor choice.           David Hill was born March 29, 1960 in Rock Rapids, Iowa, the son of Robert and Eunice “Ede” (Nelson) Hill. He was raised in Rock Rapids and attended Central Lyon High School graduating in 1979. He continued his education at South Dakota State University and graduated in 1983 with a teaching degree, majoring in English. Dave worked in South Sioux City, NE for a year at Prudential Insurance before moving back to Rock Rapids and began working as a painter with his father in the family business. He also worked for Al Hanson in Sioux Falls.        In 1984 he moved to Dallas, TX and painted for fifteen months for LTV Center in downtown Dallas. He returned to Rock Rapids and continued to paint with his father. Dave married Cherrie Hanzen in 1986 and three children were born, Rebecca, Daniel and Jackie. During this time, he also bought and fixed up/re-sold homes. In 1988 he started his own business, D.L. Hill Painting. He also installed 9-1-1 signs for the county and painted R.E.C. electrical boxes.        Dave was member of Holy Name Catholic Church, active with the church choir. He loved to fish, hunting pheasant, ducks and geese. He also enjoyed canoe trips with his brothers and friends. Most of all he enjoyed his three wonderful children.        In 2007 Dave and Cherrie divorced. Two years later he met the love of his life, Linda Keizer. Together they enjoyed the next nine years, spending time at the cabin at Big Stone and watching the Minnesota Vikings. He was diagnosed with cancer in September of 2017. He continued to cherish the time left with his and Linda’s family.        He is survived by his special friend, Linda Keizer of Rock Rapids, IA; three children, Rebecca Hill, Daniel Hill and Jacqueline Hill, all of Rock Rapids, IA; three grandchildren, Ethan, Hadley and Kate; seven siblings, Mary Duitsman of Estherville, IA, Peter Hills of Rock Rapids, IA, Martha (Don) FaJardo of Council Bluffs, IA, Joe (Carol)Hill of Rock Rapids, IA, Margi (Ken) Behrens of Milford, IA, Mark Hill and Frank Hill, of Rock Rapids, IA; Linda’s son, Kelly Keizer; Linda’s siblings, Carol (John) Yaneff, Glen Keizer, and Rodney Keizer; along with many nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.        He was preceded in death his parents, Robert and Ede Hill; and brother-in-law, Gordy Duitsman.
