Wm. David “Dave” Clark age 77 of Spirit Lake, IA formerly of Sibley, IA died Monday, January 15, 2018 at his home in Spirit Lake, IA. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church in Sibley, IA with Rev. Terry Simm, officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Cumberland – Sugar Creek Cemetery at Glenarm, IL. Visitation will be Friday, January 19th from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. with the family present at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. William David “Dave” Clark was born July 21, 1940, at Springfield, IL the son of William David and Mary (Gilpin) Clark. Dave grew up at Chatham, IL where he attended Glenwood High School and then graduated from University of Illinois at Champaign, IL with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural mechanization. David served his country in the Airforce from 1962-1967 at which time he was honorably discharged with a rank of Air Force 1st Lieutenant. Dave was united in marriage to Carolyn (Reynolds) Clark on September 22, 1962 at the First United Presbyterian Church of Moline, IL. They made their home at Sibley, IA. He belonged to the Rotary Club and was a member of the Chamber of Commerce. Dave owned and operated the John Deere dealership in Sibley, IA until he retired in 2004. He enjoyed aviation (was a pilot and small aircraft owner); participated in many church activities; enjoyed off-roading in his jeep at his home in Arizona; and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Since retirement David and Carolyn spent six months a year at their second home in Florence, AZ. This past Monday, January 15, 2018, Dave died at his home at Spirit Lake with his loving family by his side. Dave was survived by his wife, Carolyn Clark of Spirit Lake, IA; son, Bryan David Clark (Shelley) of Worthington, MN; daughter, Kimberly Renee Philo (Jeff) of Rockledge, FL; along with 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; brothers, Daniel (Charlotte) Clark of Chatham, IL and Jay D. (Kathy) Clark of Chatham, IL and sister, Judith Clark of Cypress, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, William & Mary Clark and grandson, Bryan (Lil B) Dennis Clark.
