Little Rock, IA Mildred “Mickey” Schilling age 98 of Little Rock, IA died Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Sanford Luverne Medical Center in Luverne, MN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 26, 2018 at Forster Community Center in Rock Rapids, IA. Private burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery at Little Rock, IA. Visitation will be Friday, January 26th from 10:00 a.m. until time of service with the family present at the Forster Community Center of Rock Rapids. Mildred “Mickey” (Heikes) Schilling was born February 2, 1919, the daughter of George and Mina (Rubbie) Heikes on a farm four miles east of Ellsworth, MN. When she was two years old her family moved to a farm southwest of Adrian, MN, where she received her education in the Adrian school district. On March 4, 1936, she was united in marriage to Louis Schilling of George, IA. They were married in Rock Rapids, IA and made their home north of George, IA. Later they moved to California, but her husband longed for the farming lifestyle, so they moved back to the farm and moved back home. She worked beside her husband, along with crop farming they had a 7000-chicken unit and Mildred faithfully would collect the eggs for many years. In 1978, she and her husband retired from farming and moved into their new home in Little Rock, IA. During retirement they did some traveling which they both enjoyed. In January of 2003, Mildred’s husband, Louis passed away. She enjoyed music and could play the violin, piano and organ, she also enjoyed having company over-this was an opportunity for her to share her hospitality. Mildred was a resident of the Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Ellsworth, MN and this past Saturday, January 20, 2018, she died at the Sanford Luverne Hospital in Luverne, MN at the age of ninety-eight. She is survived by her son, Ervis (Ruth) Schilling of Adrian, MN; daughter, Lois Ann Jordan of Denver, CO; daughter-in-law, Donna Schilling of George, IA; nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren and five great great-grandchildren. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mina; her husband, Louis; son, LaVerle; son-in-law, Robert and sister Verona Iblings.
