Dr. Warren “Walt” Herrmann age 91 of Sibley, IA, died Monday, January 29, 2018, at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD. Memorial service will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 3rd, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley, IA, with Reverend Barbara Kopperud officiating. Private family burial will take place prior to service in the Holman Township Cemetery of Sibley. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. The Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Sibley Public Library. Warren Walter Herrmann was born on May 9, 1926, in Gladbrook, IA, the son of Walter and Martha (Ehrig) Herrmann. After graduating from Gladbrook High School, Walt attended Iowa State University, majoring in veterinary medicine. He served in the United States Army Air Corps. Walt was married to Ramona Mitchell in Sibley, IA in 1951, until her death in 2010. In 2012, he married Shirley Krahling. Walt practiced veterinary medicine for over fifty years. He was very active in his community: he was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, church council, a board member for the Sibley State Bank, and also served as a board member for the Sibley School Board, Country View Manor, and City Council. Locally, he was well-known as “Doc.” and “Grandpa.” Walt is survived by his wife, Shirley Herrmann of Sibley, IA; two daughters, Ann (Vahe) Tatoian of Glendora, CA and Kay (Joe) Greve of Sioux Falls, SD; four grandchildren: Chris Tatoian, Erica Tatoian, Stephanie Greve, and Andrea Greve; one great-grandson, Weston Greve; special friend, Melanie (Lee) Seivert of Sibley, IA; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ramona Herrmann; son, Tom Herrmann; and two brothers, James and David Herrmann.
