Lester, IA Wilma Bouwman age 90 of Lester, IA died Thursday, February 1, 2018 at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 6th at Bethel Reformed Church of Lester, IA, with Rev. Don Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery of Lester, IA Visitation will be Monday, February 5th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids. Wilma Joan Bouwman was born July 11, 1927 at Milaka, Millie Lacs County, Minnesota, the daughter of Peter and Suzanne (Westra) Stellinga. She was raised near Rock Rapids, IA and attended country school. She was united in marriage to Henry Bouwman on September 1, 1948 at the First Christian Reformed Church in Rock Rapids, IA. Together they lived and farmed north of Alvord, IA for many years. They were blessed with five children, Paul, Sharon, Lynn, Harlin and Cindy. She was a lifetime member of Bethel Reformed Church of Lester, IA, member of the Reformed Church Women’s Organization, and Hillside Circle. She enjoyed reading, Word Search books, crocheting attending Lester softball games and bowling in her younger years. In 1990 Wilma and Henry retired from farming and moved to a home in Lester. In April of 2001, Wilma’s husband, Henry died after 52 years of marriage. Wilma entered Lyon Specialty Care in October of 2017. She remained living there until this past Thursday, February 1, 2018, when she died at the age of 90. She was survived by her five children, Paul (Trish) Bouwman of Alvord, IA, Sharon (Doug) Van Aartsen of Sioux Center, IA, Lynn (Jay) Dekker of Fulda, MN, Harlin Bouwman of Lester, IA and Cindy (Barry) Miller of Larchwood, IA; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Bouwman; parents, Peter and Suzanne Stellinga; two sisters, Eileen Bouwman and Donna Hoogeveen; and an infant brother.
