Delton Patten

George, IA     Delton Patten age 71 of George, IA died Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Good Samaritan Society in George, IA.     Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 9, 2018 at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in George, IA with Rev. Dale Lint & Rev. John Pea, officiating.  Burial with full military honors will follow in the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery at George, IA.     Visitation will be Thursday, February 8th from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of George.      Delton Don Patten was born September 9, 1946, at George, IA the son of Don and Pearl (deBoer) Patten.  Delton attended Grant #3 country school from 1st thru 7th grade.  He started at George Community school his 8th grade year and graduated from George High School in 1964.  Delton served in the United States Army from 1966-1968 as a medic.  Delton was united in marriage in 1970 to Sandra Silvey, and they had one son, Chane.  In 2006, Delton was united in marriage to Linda Denekas.  Delton lived most of his life on a farm north and east of George, and he was always partial to his horses and cattle.  Through the years, Delton worked at Siebring Manufacturing and Sudenga Industries where he honed his skills as a welder.  Delton took great pride in his work and enjoyed the friendships he made at both of those places.  Delton was always ready to have a cup of coffee and was great at telling stories and could always come up with a joke to share.  Delton was an avid reader, truly enjoyed hunting, trap shooting at the Rock Rapids Gun Club and collecting guns.  One of his most memorable hunting adventures was a trip to Texas to go wild boar hunting with Chane and Joe several years ago. Delton was an active member of the George Legion for 50 years. He was very proud to serve his country and especially proud of his son, Chane.  Delton was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a friend to many.  He will be greatly missed by those who had the privilege of knowing him.      He is survived by his wife, Linda Patten of George, IA;  son Chane (Dawn) Patten of Harrisburg, SD;  step daughter Tracy (David) Tombelaine of LaQuinta, CA; step son Daniel (Jenna) Bruns of Orange City, IA; grandchildren Cole, Mia and Jesa Patten of Harrisburg, SD; step grandchildren Keenan, Gavin, Grayson, Alexa and Addison of Orange City, IA; Carly and Nigil Vander Wees of LaQuinta, CA; along with special friends, Dennis and Gracia Schrick of George, IA; Jim and Cleone Kruse of George, IA.      Delton was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Pearl Patten as well as his infant sister Maureen.
