Alan Paul Eben

Little Rock, IA

     Alan Eben, age 66 of Little Rock, IA died Thursday, October 1, 2020 at Avera-McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

     Visitation will be Sunday, October 4^th from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at the First Baptist Church, rural George, IA, with a memorial service following at 4:30 PM, with Rev. Dr. Mike Hagan officiating.

     In Lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Lyon County Fair.

     Alan Paul Eben was born February 19, 1954 in Rock Rapids, Iowa, the son of John and Florence (Kruger) Eben. He was raised on a farm near Little Rock, IA. He attended and graduated from Little Rock High School. He continued his education at Northwest Community College where he studied auto mechanics.

     In 1974 Alan married to Jean Hassebroek. They were blessed with four children, Stacy, Jodi, Curtis and Scott. Alan and Jean raised their children on a farm near Rock Rapids and farmed and milked cows.

     In 2009 Alan was married to Judy (Kramer) deBoer. Alan and Judy moved to a farm near Little Rock and continued to farm.

     Alan was a member of First Baptist Church, rural George, IA. Alan was a man who could fix or repair about anything on the farm. He was always willing to help or loan out his equipment to anyone. He had many interests including playing fastpitch softball, tractor pulling, golfing, team-roping, playing cards and exchanging stories, while drinking many cups of coffee in his garage with anyone who would stop by. In his final years of life he loved to travel to Arizona to team-rope on his horse Matlock and visit friends with Judy. Alan was a guy who had nicknames for almost everyone and would always give you a hard time. He loved to tease every kid he met about something or someone! He was extremely proud of his kids and grandkids and loved watching them in all of their activities. 

     Alan is survived by his wife, Judy Eben of Little Rock, IA; mother, Florence Eben of George, IA; four children, Stacy (Todd) Dieren and their children, Paige and Trevor, all of Rock Rapids, IA, Jodi (Dan) DeGroot and their children, Dax and Jesse, all of George, IA, Curtis (Amanda) Eben and their children, Graham, Rhett and Sage, all of Rock Rapids, IA and Scott Eben of Little Rock, IA; five step-children, Joni (Mike) Schleisman and their children, Jade, Kaleb and Carter, Stan (Crystal) deBoer, and their children, Kane (Brooklyn), Kasey and Ava, A.J. (Reka) deBoer and their children, Ethan, Evalyn and Emersan, Kenny (Casey) and their children, Madison and Marshall, Emily (Chris) Ecklund, and their children, Alize, Carla and Anthony; three siblings, Jeff (Cindy) Eben of George, IA, Jo (Dan) Block of Adrian, MN and Lori (Steve) Johnson of Little Rock, IA.

     Alan was preceded in death by his father, John Eben.
