Annie (Ann) Steensma Postma was born October 7, 1931 to Andrew and Alice (Idzenga) Steensma in rural Bigelow, Minnesota, the youngest of 9 children, where she was raised and attended country school.

Ann married Otto Postma on June 20, 1951 at the Christian Reformed Church parsonage in Bigelow, MN. They moved to Camp Pendelton, California and lived there from 1951-1953 while Otto was in the Marine Corps. Upon completion of Otto's military service, the couple returned to NW Iowa and moved to a farm north of the Hwy 9/59 corner north of Allendorf, where they farmed. In 1962 Otto and Ann moved to Sibley where Ann began to babysit many Sibley children. This job kept her busy until she retired in 1993. Ann was a "grandma" to many children. Ann's husband of 51 years, Otto, passed away in September 2002. After 56 years of living in the same home, Ann moved to the Country View Manor in the summer of 2018.

Ann loved being with family and friends. It was well known, that on several holiday's during the year, there was going to be a family reunion at her home, something she really enjoyed. At Ann's home, the coffee was always on. Whether family, friend, or stranger, if you stopped at Ann's home, you were sure to get a cup of coffee and bar or cookie.  She enjoyed making breads for many, many birthdays, and other occasions.  She loved it when people would stop by to visit. Ann also enjoyed traveling to other areas where family was located to visit with them. She never missed an opportunity to see family. Another favorite of Ann's was getting together with friends for a good card game of UNO, Dominos, or a good board game. In Otto and Ann's retirement years, it was not uncommon to have friends over 3 nights a week for game of cards, something Ann continued until spring of 2020 when the COVID 19 pandemic hit and put a stop to most social gatherings. The pandemic also put a stop for most family visitation as we knew it, which was very difficult on both Ann and the kids.

Ann will be lovingly remembered by her children: Carol (Greg) Smidt of Le Mars, Norma (Leslie) Luitjens of rural Ashton, Marvin (MJ) Postma of Sibley. Grandchildren: Eric (Karen) Smidt, Emily (Tim) Murphy, Loren (Heather) Luitjens, Matthew (Sheri) Postma, Myles Paplow and fiance' Heather Mae, Major Postma along with 12 great grandchildren and sister in laws Rena Steensma and Shirley Mulder, brother-in-law Richard Postma along with several nieces and nephews.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, husband Otto, 2-year-old son Larry Postma, granddaughter Lora Luitjens, also her siblings and their spouses: Pete & Tina Steensma, Harry & Hattie Steensma, Ted & Gertie Wassenaar, Ike & Grace Steensma, George & Marie Steensma, Andrew & Beatrice Steensma, Ted & Bertha Steensma and Fred Steensma.
