Anna Elizabeth Schouwenburg was born on May 7, 1926 to Jacob and Nellie (Van Buitjen)Schouwenburg on a farm near Beaver Creek, Minnesota. Throughout her childhood her family farmed at various locations in Rock County, Minnesota.

Following her education at Country Schools, Anna worked as a House Cleaner, at Fikse Produce and finally at the Tuff Memorial Home in Housekeeping. Anna worked at the Tuff Home from 1961 to 1996 where her sense of humor, her smile and her work ethic were appreciated by residents and staff alike.

During her lifetime, Anna had a very special friend in Melina Boeve, who was also a coworker at the Tuff Home. She and Melina would often travel to Rock Rapids and Luverne to do their shopping and to have coffee. They also enjoyed over 10 Tour bus trips to various places in the US. Anna really enjoyed those bus trips and talked of them often.

After retirement Anna enjoyed her life at the Sunview Manor Apartments in Hills Mn. She especially enjoyed her visits with her good friend Jennie Brower. She and Jennie watched out for one another and were close friends even after they both became residents at the Tuff Home. After retirement Anna also enjoyed volunteering at the Tuff Home with activities like Bingo.

In 2019, Anna moved from her apartment to the Tuff Memorial Home. After many years of working at the Tuff Home, for Anna moving into the Tuff Home was a little like moving home. She was very happy during her years at the Tuff Home and especially enjoyed the activities and afternoon coffee. Anna always had a sweet tooth, so those afternoon coffees were something she rarely missed.

Anna was a lifetime member of the Steen Reformed Church.

Anna was deeply loved by her nieces, nephews and their families. She enjoyed opportunities to spend time with her family and was kind and generous to us all. Many of us have fond memories of having coffee at our Grandma's house on Sunday Morning after church. We always knew that Anna would have a treat for us. On special occasions, that treat was a box of Cracker Jacks which was always extra special!

Anna was preceded in death by her sisters, Sophie (Frank) Berghorst and Marie (Gilbert) Klarenbeek, brothers, Bert (Jennie), Simon (Henrietta), Henry (Lucille), Marinus (Cornelia), Peter and Donald (Phyllis) Schouwenburg; an infant sister; several Nieces and Nephews and her parents. Surviving Anna is one sister-in-law, Florence Schouwenburg and several Nieces and Nephews.
