      Arla R. Horn, age 88, of Worthington, MN, formerly of Larchwood, IA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington, MN.

      Visitation will be Tuesday, May 2^nd from 4:00 to 7:00 PM with the family present at the United Church of Christ in Larchwood, Iowa.

      Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 3^rd at the United Church of Christ with Rev. Tim Voigt officiating. 

      Burial will follow at Larchwood Cemetery.

      Jurrens Funeral Home of Larchwood is in charge of services.

      Arla Rae (Thielman) Horn was born on July 31, 1934, on a farm in rural Rock Rapids, IA, to Ludwig and Stella (Sande) Thielman. Arla’s father passed away unexpectedly in 1936, and she, her mom, and her five siblings moved into Rock Rapids. The family later moved to Sherman, SD, then Garretson, SD, and later to Jasper, MN. She graduated from Jasper High School in 1952 and furthered her education by taking some accounting and bookkeeping classes. Arla roomed with two young ladies in Sioux Falls, SD, in the 1950s and 60s. The three of them and some others became good friends, and the "old gang" was formed. Arla and the "old gang" continued to gather for many years for an annual summer picnic. Arla was united in marriage to Ronald Horn on August 22, 1964, at First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. She worked as a bookkeeper at Dan Dugan Oil Transport Company in Sioux Falls until Daniel was born. Arla and Ron lived in several locations in the Larchwood, IA, area before finally settling on the Horn family farm north of Larchwood. Arla helped on the farm, kept books for the farm operation, and canned and froze many fruits and vegetables. In April 2001, Arla and Ron moved off the farm to a new home in Larchwood. In August of 2020, Arla and Ron moved to Ecumen Meadows in Worthington, MN, to be closer to family. Arla enjoyed sewing, knitting, other needlework projects, and baking, as well as spending time with family. Her three grandchildren brought joy to her life.

     Arla is survived by her son, Daniel (Monica) Horn; grandchildren, Jonathan Horn, Joshua Horn, and Jocelyn Horn; brother, LaVerne Thielman; sister, June Munkvold; brothers-in-law, Dennis Peterson and Eldon Christoferson; sister-in-law, Lorna Horn; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

     Arla is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 58 years, Ronald Horn; brother, Delbert Thielman; sisters, Carol Peterson and Marilyn Christoferson; brothers-in-law, Richard Munkvold and Donald Horn; and sister-in-law, Elnora Thielman.
