He attended country school through the 8th grade. Arnold was drafted into the United States Army in 1952 and served his country in the Korean War being honorably discharged in August of 1954. When he returned home, he farmed and worked at Sudenga Industry.

He was a member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in George where he served as a Trustee. Arnold also was a member of the American Legion Post 404 in George.

We will miss our time with grandpa; celebrating birthdays, holidays, and eating Chinese food. We appreciated how hard he worked, his love for farming, enjoying time at home with family, being a proud military veteran, a good and helpful neighbor, and worshiping with their Ebenezer Church family. We are thankful he is at peace, home with the Lord.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Eleanor; one son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Marla of Sheldon, IA; three grandchildren, Carter, Evan, Ella; one sister, Berdeen Ackerman of Sibley, IA; also, many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Arnold was preceded in death by his son, Timothy; his parents; one sister, Doris Willemssen; and two brothers-in-law, Marvin Willemssen and Marlyn Ackerman.
