     Art Meyer age 78 of Harris, Iowa died Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at his home rural Harris.

   Private funeral service for family will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 22, 2020 at the Jurrens Funeral Home - Andringa Funeral Chapel of Ocheyedan, with Reverend Steve Swenson, officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Union Cemetery at Harris, IA.

   Public visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home - Andringa Funeral Chapel of Ocheyedan and family will not be present. Social distancing guidelines will be followed.

     Arthur Amos Meyer was born on February 2, 1942 on a farm near Harris, IA, the son of Amos and Ella (Recher) Meyer. He grew up in the Harris and later graduated from Harris High School. Art was drafted in the U.S. Army on November 17, 1966 and after being wounded in the Vietnam War he was honorably discharged on March 17, 1969. He spent time in the hospital in Japan and in Denver, CO. After returning home he farmed near Harris, IA and worked as a crop adjuster for several years. Art was a former member of the Round Lake American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and canning. He liked to cook and was known for making many unusual meals.

     Art is survived by three siblings, Thomas E. (Glenda) Meyer of Bellevue, IA, Paul E. (Jennifer) Meyer of Coronado, CA and Richard L. (Jeanette) Meyer of Harris, IA; special friends, Lou Ella and her son Dean Engelson of Harris, IA; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, Amos and Ella Meyer; and a sister-in-law, Bonnie Meyer.
