     Barbara Van Hattem age 78 of Sibley, IA died Sunday, January 9, 2021 at Sibley Specialty Care in Sibley.

     Burial will take place at Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley at a later date.

     Barbara Jean Van Hattem was born August 5, 1943, the daughter of Ralph and Dorothy (Sirpliss) Menke.  She was united in marriage to Jacob Van Hattem on November 15, 1986 in Seattle, Washington.  They lived in Seattle for a few years, then moved to Doon, Iowa.  They later resided in Harris, Iowa before settling in Sibley.  Barb enjoyed going for walks, watching TV and spending time with her dog.

     Barb is survived by her sons, Michael Van Hofwegen of Coon Rapids, MN and Robert Van Hofwegen of Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren, Sri Dorothy, Michelle Marie and Gianna Van Hofwegen; and brother, Donald (Mary) Menke of Indianola, IA.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Dorothy Menke and her husband, Jacob Van Hattem.
