Bernard "Bud" Dirks

     Bernard “Bud” Dirks, age 95, of George, IA died Saturday, April 23, 2022, at the Good Samaritan Society in George.

     Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, April 29, 2022 at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in George, IA with the Pastor Bryan Anderson officiating.

     Visitation will be one hour before the service in the church on Friday.

     Bernard R. Dirks was born on May 21, 1926 to parents Benhard and Grace (Meester) Dirks at Midland Township, Lyon County, Iowa.  He grew up  and attended country school at Midland.  He was united in marriage to Dorothy Browen at the Bethel Reformed Church near Ellsworth, MN on October 8, 1947. The couple farmed in Midland township until 1977 when they moved to Gillette, WY where Bud worked in the oil fields for a brief time.  They moved back to Lyon County and the couple resided in George. Bud worked at Sudenga Industries for six years and later for Demco where he retired in 1992. His loves were his wife, his family and farming. He also enjoyed gardening, tinkering and fixing almost anything.

     He is survived by his daughter Yolanda (Dick) Bohl of Lake City, FL; three sons Travis (Michele), Kevin (Carol) and Marcel (Shelli) all of George, IA; 15 Grandchildren; 20 Great Grandchildren; a brother Alfred Dirks of George; also two sisters-in-law Tina Dirks of Sibley, IA and Charlene (James) Kuehne of Worthington, MN;.

     Bud was preceded in death by his Parents, his wife Dorothy, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
