Betty was a housewife, worked as a telephone operator for AT&T in Hull for 15 years, and worked at the Tarco Doll Company in George for 5 years. She was a member of the Hope Reformed Church and a part of the women’s circle. She was also a member of a Round Robin Circle Group with her classmates from school. People enjoyed receiving cards and letters from her.  She enjoyed cooking and will be remembered as being the best cook.  Her family remembers her as spiritual, gentle, kind, and a loving human being following in Jesus’s footsteps.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Nancy (Chuck) Eiten of Jeffersonville, IN and Brad (Ashley) Van Tubergen of George, IA; two grandchildren, Ellen and Benjamin. The family would also like to give special recognition to her dear friend Kathryn Klaahsen for her many acts of love and kindness to their mom and for watching out for her in her final years. Her friendship was dearly cherished.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jan and Ella Scholten; husband, Edgar; brothers, George and John Scholten; sisters, Grada Vander Lugt, Jeanette Sybesma, and Henrietta Dykstra.
