Bonnie Lou Kruger, age 68, of Little Rock, Iowa passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at the Osceola Regional Hospital in Sibley, IA.

Public visitation will be Monday, December 11th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of George.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 12th at Hope Reformed Church in George, with Rev. Steven DeHaan officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Lawn Cemetery in George.

Bonnie Lou (Johnson) Kruger was born January 4, 1955, in Rock Rapids, IA the daughter of Arthur “Guy” and Ann (Kleene) Johnson. She was one of six children, Art, Judy, Jim, Al, Bonnie, and Norma.
They lived in George, Iowa in a house Arthur moved from Edna, which years later Bonnie would purchase and move it to the farm where she lived until her passing. Bonnie attended George School and was a true “Blue Jay!” Bonnie was a good student and a hard worker from an early age. She enjoyed time on the farm with Geerdes’ and Wiersma’s. She was very artistic and was involved in basketball. She worked as a carhop at the Shade Tree drive-in, which was very convenient since it was right next door.  She also worked at various places in the George area.

She began dating Lonnie Kruger in high school and she never looked back. She graduated in 1973 and in that same year, she married on October 12, 1973, to Lonnie D. Kruger, son of Sylvester "Jack" and Clara (Hinrichs) Kruger. The couple made their home in George. On July 31. 1974, Bonnie was involved in a car accident while driving to work. As a result of the accident, Bonnie suffered a brain injury that left her with lifelong medical issues.

Lonnie and Bonnie were blessed with 3 daughters, Robin Ann, LeAnn Renae, and Jennifer Jo. Which is a miracle with her medical condition and seizure medications. They moved to “The Farm” in 1981 where they are still living. They were a classic farm family filled with farming, baling hay, dairy cows, a few pigs, cattle, several dogs, and of course horses. Bonnie was always willing to do the work right along with Lonnie and would never complain.

As her condition did not improve with medication, they decided in September of 1996 that brain surgery was the best option. She did great for 3 years until another grand mal seizure caused her to lose her short-term memory. She worked in the kitchen doing dishes at the Osceola Community Hospital until Covid hit and she retired. She then spent her time riding in the milk truck with her best friend, Lonnie, until his retirement in October 2022.

She loved to spend her days cleaning up the yard, setting "bon-fires" and being with Lonnie. She loved babies, and being with all of her grandchildren and great-grandchild, and would have loved to see them grown up.

She was diagnosed with Brain Cancer in July of this year, and on December 7th at 9:51 am she passed away peacefully surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her husband, Lonnie Kruger, of 50 years 1 month and 25 days; three daughters, Robin Kruger of George, LeAnn Kruger (Ben Pribyl) of Rock Rapids, Jennifer Kruger of Little Rock; eight grandchildren, Haleigh Kruger (Chris Van’t Hul) of Ashton, Paige Kruger of George, Jada Kruger, Kegan Kruger, and Ryder Pribyl, all of Rock Rapids, Cayden Noll, Karly Noll, and Hadlee Kruger, all of Little Rock; one great Granddaughter, Elena Ramos of Ashton; two sisters, Judy Griesse of Rock Rapids, and Norma (Dave) Winkel of George; three brothers, Arthur (Margie) Johnson, Allen (Sophie) Johnson, all of Spencer, and James “Jim” (Raejean) Johnson of Brandon, SD; along with several nieces and nephews, and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, Art and Ann Johnson; parents-in-law, Jack and Clara Kruger; a nephew, Scott Allen Johnson; and a brother-in-law, LeRoy Griesse.
