Bonny Lou Bruns, age 73, of Little Rock, IA, died on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
Visitation will be on Monday, December 11, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with the family present at the Jurrens Funeral Home in Sibley.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at the Jurrens Funeral Home in Sibley with Jody Hobmeier, officiating, with burial to follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Little Rock, IA.
Bonny Lou Bruns was born on December 31, 1949, in Jamestown, ND to Ralph and Hazel (Watson) Hartley.
Bonny grew up in Jud, ND until the age of 13 when her family moved to a farm outside Garden City, SD. Bonny received her diploma from Clark, SD in 1967.
After graduating from school, Bonny was married and raised her 3 boys, Roy Gene Palmer, Jr., Ray Palmer, and Richard Alan Palmer. She loved her boys dearly.
In 1990, Bonny met the love of her life, Gordon Ray Bruns. They were united in marriage on July 28, 1990, at their farm outside of George, IA. The couple moved from George, IA to a farm outside of Little Rock, IA. If you drove by in the summer, you could see Bonny’s prized flowers that she planted around the home.
Bonny was a very eclectic lady with interests ranging from gardening, bowling, horseshoes, crocheting Native American dancing dolls and collecting bells. She owned her own karaoke business called “The Wandering Unicorn” and you could find her singing with the weekend locals at the bar while enjoying a Diet Coke.
Those left to cherish Bonny’s memory are her husband, Gordon Bruns of Little Rock, IA; children, Roy Gene Palmer, Jr. of Iowa, Ray Lee (Chris) Palmer of Ellsworth, MN and Richard (Jennifer) Palmer of Brookings, SD; grandchildren, Amanda Villemure, Megan Wright, Trei Hinrichs, Jamie Palmer, Drew Palmer, Sterling Palmer, and Kaci Palmer; sisters Blanch Flanigan of Redfield, SD, Gloria Rowe of Monticello, MN; nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Raymond Hartley; granddaughter Elizabeth Palmer; grandson Carter Palmer; nephew Ricky Rowe; niece Carmela Kay Toth.
