Burnell A. Hinsch

      Burnell A. Hinsch, 87, passed away peacefully at the Canton Good Samaritan Society, on February 9, 2022.

      A memorial service will be 1:00 PM, Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids, with Pastor Jeff Poppinga officiating. 

     Burnell Hinsch, son of Henry and Bernita (Zumhofe) Hinsch, was born May 24, 1934 Gaylord, MN.

     Burnell served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1954 to1957. After the Marine Corp he drove for McCormick Freight. He went on to haul for Jansma Cattle Company. After several years Burnell bought his own trucks & trailers to start Hinsch Trucking. He hauled livestock to all the states west of the Mississippi River and even into Mexico.  When he was home he loved to share the stories of his travels while having coffee at the truck stop.  Some of Burnell's fondest memories were of hunting and fishing with his brothers. From 1959 to1974 he was married to Judy Van Roekel. They had three children, Mike, Bobbi and Connie. From  1980 to 1999  he was married to Eileen Elverson and to this union one child, Katherine was born. Burnell will be missed dearly.

     Burnell is survived by four children, Mike (Ronda) Hinsch, Harrisburg, SD, Bobbi (Les) Anderson, Brandon, SD, Connie (Dewayne) Campbell, Sioux Falls, SD, and Katie (Jeff Burnes), Sioux Falls, SD; 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; Siblings: Delano (Carol) Hinsch, Larchwood, IA; Stan (Sandy) Hinsch, Rock Rapids, IA; Neal Hinsch, Sioux Falls, SD.

     Burnell was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers; Ernie, Henry and Tony and his sisters; Violet and Lucille.
