Carol Klaahsen, age 84 of Little Rock, Iowa, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2022, at the George Good Samaritan Society in George, IA.
Public visitation will be Thursday, April 7th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of George, IA.
Private family burial will be Friday, April 8th at Pleasant View Cemetery in Little Rock, IA.
Carol Mae Eileen Klaahsen was born October 3, 1937, in Worthington, Minnesota, the daughter of Heye and Mildred (Siemonsma) Miller. She was raised near Worthington and graduated from Worthington High School in 1955.
On October 30, 1957, Carol was united in marriage to Wendell Klaahsen at Zoar Presbyterian Church near George, IA. They made their home in Little Rock, IA. Carol and Wendell were blessed with three sons, Brent, Blair, and Troy. Carol was a homemaker along with various other jobs.
Carol enjoyed knitting, crocheting, bird watching, polka dancing, playing Bingo and spending time at her cabin on Lake Shetek. She also enjoyed spending time with her sons, grandchildren, and close lake friends. They all held a special place in her heart.
Carol’s husband, Wendell, died on December 3, 2007. She remained living in Little Rock until January of 2022, she then entered the Good Samaritan Society in George, IA, where she lived until April 3, 2022, reaching the age of 84 years, and 6 months.
She is survived by three sons, Brent (Janelle) Klaahsen of Rock Rapids, IA, Blair (Sharon) Klaahsen and Troy Klaahsen, all of Little Rock, IA; seven grandchildren, Brian (Vicki) Ver Meer of Lancaster, VA, Nicole (Jeff) Kruger of George, IA, Brittany (Jamie) Negus of Sheldon, IA, Brooke (John) Estep of Sioux Falls, SD, Allison (Trinnity) Lansink of Sibley, IA, Alexandra (Patrick) Smith of Rock Rapids, IA and Zachary Klaahsen of Inwood, IA; six great-grandchildren, Morgan and Alexis Ver Meer, Lane and Keslee Kruger, Jaxson and Bentlee Negus, Adelynn Lansink; two sisters, Rosemary Schaefer and Ann (Steve) Wooten; brother, Gene (Sue) Schaefer; brother-in-law, Stanley Hoffman; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Heye Miller, Mildred (Bill) Schaefer; her husband of 50 years, Wendell Klaahsen; great-granddaughter, Gabrielle Estep; brother, Jim Miller, and sister, Janice Hoffman.
