      Carol (Geerdes) Schubert, age 65 of Rock Rapids, Iowa, passed away on July 15, 2021, at Sanford

Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

     A private, family service will be held with burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids.

Jurrens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

     Carol Lynn (Geerdes) Schubert “Coco” was born on December 3, 1955, in Sibley, Iowa. She was the daughter of Glenis and Donna (Janssen) Geerdes, and was raised on the family farm west of George. She graduated from George High School in 1974. After graduation, she worked at the dental office in George and Samuelson Motors in Rock Rapids. Later she began working at the Sportsman’s Lounge.

     She married Kevin Marra on September 19, 1981, at the Zoar Presbyterian Church in rural George, IA. Kevin passed away in 1985. She married Steve Schubert on October 5, 1996, at The Chapel of the Flowers in Las Vegas, Nevada. After their marriage, Carol worked as the dairy manager at Jubilee Foods in Rock Rapids. Carol then joined Steve working at McCormack Transportation, and eventually took over ownership of the business. Steve and Carol both retired in September of 2019.

     Carol was a life-long member of Zoar Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed spending time camping, shopping, decorating and cooking the most delicious meals. Vacationing in Jamaica, taking daily walks with Steve, and attending Madison’s and Mallorie’s activities were things she loved the most. She will be remembered as a loving person who had a smile like no other and always put the needs of others before her own.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenis and Donna Geerdes; first husband, Kevin Marra; a sister and brother-in-law, Jan and Darl Rosenboom; parents-in-law, Merlyn and Elizabeth Schubert; and a brother-in-law, Mike Schubert .

     She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Steve Schubert of Rock Rapids, IA, siblings, Kae (Michael) Richter of St. Croix Falls, WI, and Craig (Dannelle) Geerdes of George, IA; nieces and nephews, Dean (special friend, Katie) Rosenboom of George, Tami (Mike) Van Meeteren of Sheldon, Jon Rosenboom of Colorado, Nick (April) Poolman of Spirit Lake, David (Petra) Poolman of Orlando, FL, Kody Burmiester (special friend, Bailey) of St. Croix Falls, WI, Terron (fiance, Brynne) Geerdes of George, Nolan (special friend, Penni) Geerdes of George, Natalya (Brandon) Bolen of Aptos, CA, Ryan (special friend, Sarah) Fritz of Portland, OR, Cammie Schubert of Pacific Grove, CA and Trevor Schubert of Sioux City, IA; a brother-in-law, Randy Schubert of Sioux Falls, SD; a sister-in-law, Kathy Fritz of Portland, OR; as well as many other extended family.
