Carole Jean Steele age 74 of Plymouth, MN, formerly of Sheldon, IA died Friday, March 29, 2019 at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, Minnesota.
Memorial service will take place at 11:00 AM Friday, April 5, 2019 at Lyon County First Presbyterian Church of rural George, IA with Rev. John Pea officiating.
Inurnment will follow at the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery of George, IA.
The visitation will be Friday one hour prior to the service at Lyon County 1st Presbyterian church, rural George, IA.
Jurrens Funeral Home of George is in charge of services.
Carole Jean Steele was born June 14, 1944 in Sheldon, Iowa to Raymond and Blanche (Johnson) Meester. She was raised in Sheldon, Iowa and graduated from George High School in 1962.
She was united in marriage to Arthur Symens on November 2, 1963, they made their home in Minneapolis before moving to Mankato until 1977. To this union two children were born. Carole and Arthur divorced.
Carole was then united in marriage to Joseph Steele on March 5, 1987 in Laguna Beach, California. While living in California Carole enjoyed sailing, rowing on the lake they lived on, and traveling in her and Joseph’s motorhome.
Carole worked for SDC Corporation, Pacific Federal, and McDonnell Douglas all while living in California, then worked for FarmFest and MN State Agencies while living in Minnesota. Her last place of employment was an executive secretary at Hempel Properties.
She was a member of the Northwood Church in Maple Grove, Minnesota, and participated in the prayer circle at church. She enjoyed reading, golfing, and bowling. She liked to spend time with her family and friends, and especially loved spending time with her grandkids. She will be remembered for her positive attitude, beautiful smile, always being the best dressed, with the most fabulous scarf collection, and her love of Elvis.
Carole (Meester) Steele was met with the challenge of cancer in December of 2012. As with all things in her life, Carole met this challenge with grace, dignity and a beautiful smile that brought comfort and joy to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her family and friends were blessed to have her in their lives and thank God for sharing her with us.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 32 years, Joseph Steele of Plymouth, MN; daughters, Cathryn (Brett) Cole of Mondovi, WI, and Michelle (John) Kawohl of Woodbury, MN; three grandchildren, Anna Duncan, Jaelene Cole, and Connor Cole; and one sister, Janice (Neil) Davis of Peoria, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Blanche Meester; and a sister, Janet Meester.
