Charles Bosma

      Charles Bosma age 91 of Ashton, IA died Friday, October 23, 2020 at Country View Manor in Sibley, IA.

     Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 26^th at the Ashton Bible Church in Ashton, IA with Pastor Dan Kunnari, officiating.  Burial will follow at the Roseland Cemetery in Sanborn, IA.

     Visitation will be Sunday, October 25^th from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. with the family present at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley.

     Charles Bosma was born April 4, 1929 the son of Louis and Della (Koonstra) Bosma.   He attended Clover Dale #1 country school and Allendorf country school.  He helped his dad farm and on February 2, 1950 he lost his leg in a farming accident.  His recovery took a long time as did getting used to his prosthesis.  Charles was united in marriage to Joyce Zonnefeld on February 22, 1956 in Sanborn, IA at the CRC church.   They made their home on a farm north of Ocheyedan for 15 years, and north of Sanborn for 22 years.  Charles and Joyce retired and moved to Ashton.  They were members of the CRC churches in Ocheyedan, Sanborn, and Sibley and last of all members of Ashton Bible Church in Ashton.  He entered Country View Manor on August 19, 2016 and passed away this past Friday, October 23, 2020.     Charles enjoyed farming very much, and did custom farming work with his baler, swather and combine.  He was a real handyman.  They went on a lot of vacations with their family and the two of them.

     He is survived by his wife, Joyce of Ashton, IA; their daughters, Jillene Pavel  of Shawano, WI and Leila Bosma of Ashton, IA; grandchildren, Charles (Audrey) Frangenberg;  James (Julie) Frangenberg and Rachel (Casey)Neuman; great grandchildren, Toni Lynn, Calvin, Hunter, Roselene, and Wilhelm; sister, Freda Dekkenga of Ocheyedan.

     Charles was preceded in death by 2 premature sons, Lyle & Calvin; his parents Louis and Della; five brothers, Harry, Bill, Clarence, Andy and Henry.
