Cheryl Ann Dake was born to Lota and Hilda (Heida) Rieck on May 17, 1953 in Sibley, IA. She was the fiery redheaded sister to Marian, Ronnie, Kenny. Cheryl grew up in rural Melvin, IA where she helped her family farm. She attended school there and later graduated from Melvin High School. On November 18, 1977, she was united in marriage to Duane Dake in Melvin, IA. To this union two children were born, Dustin and Derrick. The couple made their home north of Ocheyedan, IA. They raised cattle, farmed some land, and had dairy cows for a number of years. In her down time, Cheryl made a career for herself working full time on the line at the local bag factory, most recently known as Hood Packaging. The couple later divorced. 2003 brought much joy when this mother of 2 boys got promoted and became the grandmother of 2 girls when Autumn joined the family in January and Hadley in September. The years following, she spent much of her time in their company, visiting and playing with them, doing nearly anything they asked and spoiling them in all things “girl”.   In 2007 she shared in the loss of her granddaughter Ella. In 2009 she added 2 more grandkids to the bunch, Dalton in January and Mariah in May and rounding out her tribe in 2012 was Treyton. Grandma was her favorite title - that was obvious. She dabbled in a variety of activities because of her little people, like Lego building, the occasional Wii challenges, shopping sprees, and becoming “regulars” at Subway and Arbys. Among these things, she was also a member of the United Methodist Church in Harris, IA, a loving sister and aunt and a ride or die type of friend!

Left behind to cherish her memory are her two sons and their families, Dustin (Shantry) Dake and their children, Autumn, Mariah and Treyton all of Sibley, IA; and Derrick Dake of Arco, MN and his children, Hadley Dake of Inwood, IA and Dalton Dake of Sibley, IA; one sister, Marian Roskens of Avoca, IA; other extended family and countless friends, who will forever remember her smiling face and bright red hair.

She was greeted by those who had gone before her including her parents, Lota and Hilda Rieck; four brothers, Ronald “Ronnie”, Kenton “Kenny”, Dennis and Brian Rieck; and granddaughter, Ella Dake.
