Dale Fisher age 91 of Sibley, IA died Monday, January 25, 2021 at the Osceola Regional Health Center in Sibley, IA.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 28, 2021at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ashton, with Father Siby Punnoose as celebrant. Social distancing guidelines will be followed.
Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Ashton, IA.
Public visitation will be Wednesday, January 27th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. Masks are recommended and social distancing guidelines will be followed. Family will not be present.
Dale Howard Fisher was born on January 5, 1930 in Sibley, IA, the son of Thomas and Dena (Miller) Fisher. He grew up on a farm west of Sibley and attended Sibley High School. He started farming with his dad after graduation in 1952. Dale and Marilyn Niichel were united in marriage on April 26, 1955. They were blessed with four children: Dan, Dave, Bill, and Sue. The couple farmed between Ashton and Sibley for many years until retirement in 1999.
Dale enjoyed fishing, going to the casino, playing cards and other games, traveling to see family, and watching his kids’ and grandkids’ events. He enjoyed watching local sporting events, specifically football, as he was a member of the Sibley Generals Football Team. He was very proud of being named Fan of the Year in 2016. He loved being outside, on the lake and enjoyed anything to do with agriculture. He maintained an impressive collection of Farmall toy tractors. In recent years, Dale liked to sit in his garage and watch the people go by and visit with those who stopped. Dale was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ashton and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Dale will be greatly missed.
Dale is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Marilyn Fisher of Sibley, IA; four children, Dan (Beth) Fisher of Rochester, MN, Dave (Jolene) Fisher of Sibley, IA, Bill (Joan) Fisher of Panora, IA and Sue (Randy) Shadle of Winona, MN; ten grandchildren, Kyle (Kelsey) Fisher, Rachel Fisher, Brad Fisher, Abby Fisher, Stacia (Nate) Varner, Josh (Jessica) Fisher, Madison Fisher, Carson Fisher, Jensen Shadle and Gabby Shadle; four great grandchildren, Rohan and Janik Varner, Ashton and Anastacia Fisher; his sister, Marilyn (Virgil) Johnson of Alexandria, VA; sister-in-law, Matilda Fisher of Sanborn, IA; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold Fisher; and sister, Kathy Wallrich.
