Daniel J. "Pugs" Loring, age 58 of Sioux Falls, SD (formerly of Harris, Iowa), passed away at his home on Friday Afternoon December 22, 2023.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 7 PM Thursday, December 28, 2023 at the Harris United Methodist Church in Harris, IA.
A visitation will be held from 4-7 PM Thursday with the family present also at the Methodist Church in Harris.
Daniel Joe Loring was born on July 8, 1965, in Worthington, MN to parents Don and Marlene (Huls) Loring. He had one brother Jeff who shared a birthday three years earlier and in 1967 a sister Lisa joined the family. Daniel was baptized at the United Methodist Church in Bigelow, MN. He always enjoyed going to church and Sunday school. In 1972 he became a lifelong member of the Harris United Methodist Church.
Daniel was a 1983 graduate of the Harris-Lake Park High School. One of the highlights of his high school career was when he wrestled his older brother Jeff, the senior, when Daniel was just a freshman and came out on top. In high school, he worked at Carstensen's Locker and after graduating worked at Sather's for a time and also BSI in Hartley, IA. It was about then that trucking got into his blood, working for Holiday Express and BJ Express. In 1990 Daniel had a serious automobile accident and was severely disabled. After spending five months in the hospital he still had a long road ahead. Living the life of a Quadriplegic was very difficult for Pugs. Daniel then went to Southeast Technical College and earned a degree in graphic design. He continued to work in and around Sioux Falls until his health failed to a degree where he could no longer work.
Even though his life presented many challenges, Pugs will be remembered most for his ever-present smile and his hearty laugh. Daniel called his parents at least once or twice a day to check in on them and to also let them know he too was okay. His calls will be sorely missed.
Grateful for having shared his life are his parents, Don and Marlene Loring; his brother Jeff (Maria) Loring; a sister Lisa Aboamera; Niece Katelyn; nephew Ramsey; Uncle Rodney and Aunt Geraldine Behrens, Aunt Carolyn Loring and cousins.
Preceding Daniel in death were his grandparents, Aunts and uncles also a nephew Khaled Loring-Aboamera.
Blessed be the memory of Daniel Joe Loring.
