     Daniel C. Wessels age 66 of Sibley, IA died on August 26, 2021, at Sibley Specialty Care in Sibley, IA.

     Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am, Monday August 30^th at the St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Sibley, IA, with Father Siby Punnoose as celebrant. Burial will follow at the St. Andrew’s Catholic Cemetery in Sibley.

     Visitation will be Sunday, August 29^th from 4:00 to 6:00 pm, with the family present at Jurrens Funeral Home in Sibley, IA. 

    In lieu of flowers memorials maybe directed to the family for later designation.

     Daniel Craig Wessels was born on December 14, 1954, in Sibley, IA, the son of Heye and Lucille (Odens) Wessels. He grew up in Sibley and later graduated in 1973 from Sibley High School.

     On June 1, 1973, he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Betty Jo Hatting at the St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Sibley. To this union two daughters were born, Rebecca and Danelle. The couple made their home in Sibley. Daniel worked for Sudenga Industries, near George, IA. He then worked for Mauch Oil Company, repairing tractor tires and radiators for 8 years. Lastly, he worked at AMPI (Associated Milk Producers Inc.) as a maintenance person for 23 years. He retired in 2008 for health reasons. Dan and his friend Chuck Kruger ran the C&D Gun Shop from 2001 to 2016.

     Daniel’s hobbies included hunting with his daughter, Rebecca, fishing, bowling, and camping. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially with his grandson Joseph. He will be greatly missed.

     Daniel is survived by his wife of 48 years, Betty Jo Wessels of Sibley, IA; two children, Rebecca (Chet) Stofferan of Sibley, IA and Danelle (Joseph) Williams of Apple Valley, MN; grandson, Joseph Williams of Apple Valley, MN; brother, Dennis (Sharon) Wessels of Balaton, MN; two nieces, Susan Fields and Sheila Szczawinski; one nephew, Douglas Wessels; sister-in-law, Donna Hatting; brother-in-law, Patrick (Kimberly) Hatting; and other extended family and friends.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, Heye and Lucille Wessels.
