     Darlene Krull age 91 of George, IA died Monday, July 1, 2019, at Ava's Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD.

     Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 5, 2019, at the First Baptist Church in George, IA with Rev. Mike Hagan, officiating.  Burial will follow in the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery at George, IA.

     Visitation will be Friday, July 5th from 9:30 until time of service at the First Baptist Church in George.

     Darlene Mavis (Walters) Krull was born January 21, 1928, the daughter of Conrad and Grace (Kruger) Walters.  Darlene grew up in the George area and attended country school.  She was united in marriage to Ernest M. Krull on February 24, 1954, at the parsonage in Pipestone, MN by Rev. J.J. Brygger.  They made their home in the George area on a farm.  To this union two daughters were born, Marcia and Mary.  They continued to farm until Ernest passed away in 1979.  Darlene remained living on the farm east of George until 1995, when she moved to town.  After Ernest’s death, Darlene worked at the Good Samaritan Center for nearly 30 years.  She was a member of Central Baptist Church where she was involved with Ladies Aide and taught Jr. Youth and always said her God given talent was “washing dishes.”  Later she became a member of First Baptist Church.  She was a wonderful cook and was known for making her coconut cream pies and popcorn balls.  She enjoyed gardening and crossword puzzles.  This past Monday, July 1, 2019, Darlene passed away at the Ava’s Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 91.

     Darlene is survived by her two daughters, Marcia (Krull) McCarthy of Spirit Lake, IA and Mary (Krull) Eben and her husband, David of Little Rock, IA; five grandchildren, Christina McCarthy, Ethan McCarthy, Andrew and wife, Holly Eben; Lucas Eben and Abigail Eben; two great grandchildren, Josiah and Nathan Eben.  In 2017 she became a resident at the George Good Samaritan Center.  She will be remembered by her fun and cherished meal friend, Doris Klaassen.

     She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Krull; her parents, Conrad and Grace Walters; two brothers, Marvin and Clarence Walters and nephew, Michael Walters.
