David Watters age 65, of Ocheyedan, IA gained his angel wings on Monday, May 17, 2021 at his home in Ocheyedan, IA.
Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 21, 2021 at the United Methodist Church in Ocheyedan, IA with Pastor Steve Swenson officiating.
Visitation with the family present will be prior to the service on Friday morning from 9:30 to time of service.
In lieu of flowers family would prefer memorials.
David F. Watters was born November 10, 1955 in Worthington, MN to Marvin F. and Belva (Willar) Watters. He grew up in Ocheyedan and graduated from Ocheyedan High School. David continued his education attending NWICC studying farm management.
David married Linda and became the proud parents to Ryan and Carrie. He continued living in Ocheyedan and raising his family there. David worked driving truck. He worked for D & K Enterprise and LKW Trucking along with farming.
He was a lifelong resident of Ocheyedan and a member of the United Methodist Church. He was always be a big supporter of the Ocheyedan Catfish Club. He enjoyed his community very much and knew everyone. Sunday morning coffee with the guys at his kitchen table became a regular event that he loved.
David later united in marriage to Dianne McKenzie at the farm. Where they spend many weekends on the deck watching the deer and pheasants roam the acreage.
He enjoyed tinkering with farm stuff, especially with his little granddaughter. They were the best of friends and spent a lot of time together.
David was diagnosed with cancer and fought it very courageously. He knew the value of life and spent as much time as he could with as many as he could. David passed away at his home surrounded by family last Monday evening. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Dianne McKenzie of Ocheyedan; son, Ryan (Jenna) Watters of Ashton; daughter, Carrie (Holt) Bogdanowicz of Hawthorn, NV; step-son, Ryan (Victoria) Jensen of Winona, MN; step-daughter, Chelsea (Chris) Hattendorf of Ashton; sister, Jan Stone of Greeley, CO; and other extended family members.
David was preceded in death by his parents.
David will be forever missed by many.
