Delbert Leroy Klaassen

     Delbert Klaassen age 84 of Sibley, Iowa died Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at Sanford Hospital in Sheldon, Iowa.

     Funeral services will be 2:30 PM, Monday, September 6, 2021, at Zoar Presbyterian Church, rural George with Reverend Dale Lint, officiating. Burial will follow in the Zoar Cemetery at George, IA.

     Visitation will be Sunday, September 5^th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., with family present from 5:00 to 8:00p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley.

     Delbert Leroy Klaassen was born December 11^th, 1936, the son Andrew and Bertha (Groote) Klaassen. Delbert grew up in Sibley where he attended country school at West Holman Township.  He was united in marriage to Beverly DeJong on December 14th, 1956 at Zoar Presbyterian Church in George, IA.  They started farming near Bigelow, MN and then soon moved to a farm west of Sibley where they raised their family.  During that time he also owned Klaassen Trailer Sales.  He was an active lifelong member of Zoar Presbyterian Church where he served as a past Elder and Deacon.  He belonged to a horse-riding club where the family made many life-long memories and friends.  He also enjoyed collecting toy tractors.  On May 13^th, 2020, Delbert became a resident at Fieldcrest Memory Care Center in Sheldon, IA.  He passed away this past Wednesday evening September 1^st, 2021 at the age of eighty-four.

     He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Beverly of Sibley; their children, Douglas Klaassen (Carol Gruis) of Blanchard, OK; Brenda Knuth (special friend, Brad Pitchford) of Sheldon, IA; Darrin (Brenda) Klaassen of Sheldon, IA; Beth (Dean) Keyt of Ames, IA and Belinda (Rick) Heidebrink of Worthington, MN; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sister, Nancy (George) Schmidt of Ellsworth, MN and brother, Burdell (Deb) Klaassen of Sibley, IA.

     Delbert was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Bertha; father and mother-in-law, Hessel and Anna DeJong and an infant daughter, Kristi Sue Klaassen.
