Dennis Kellenberger

     Dennis Kellenberger, age 78, of Larchwood, Iowa, died on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD.

     Visitation will be Sunday, February 19, 2023, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM with the family present at the Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Hall in Lester, IA.

     Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday, February 20, 2023, with the family present at 9:00 to 9:45am at the Apostolic Christian Church in Lester, IA. Burial will follow in the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery at Lester, IA.

     Dennis Lee Kellenberger was born April 13, 1944, at Rock Rapids, IA the son of Henry and Elaine (Grimm) Kellenberger.  Dennis grew up on the family farm and graduated from West Lyon High School.  As a young man he went to work for IBP in Luverne, MN.  On July 17, 1966, he was united in marriage to Shirley (Koehl) at Morris, MN.  To this union, they were blessed with four children.  In 1973, he and Shirley purchased a farm near Steen, MN where they continued to farm until 2012 when they moved to Larchwood, IA.  He loved to farm and helped with the harvest until 2020.  He especially enjoyed running the combine in the fall.  For 26 years, he and Shirley would go to Arizona for the winter.  In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and spending time at Lake Benton, MN.  He also cherished time spent with his grandchildren.  Many special memories were made every summer taking his family on vacation.  Dennis was a warm, kind and friendly person and never met a stranger.

     In 1963, he repented and put his faith in Jesus and was baptized at the age of 19.  He was an active member of the Apostolic Christian Church of Lester, IA.  He served many years as a song leader and Sunday School Teacher.  His church family was very dear to him.  Dennis passed away peacefully on February 16, 2023, after an extended battle with Parkinson’s and pancreatic cancer.

     Left to cherish his memory are his wife Shirley of 56 years; their children, Paula (Craig) Feuchtenberger of Hancock, MN; Kristi (Ben) Furrer of Alexandria, MN; Tara (Jeff) Popkes of Sioux Falls, SD; Benji (Leah) Kellenberger of Steen, MN; and grandchildren, Max(Gabbi), Alex (Jessica), Ty (Esther) and Jed Feuchtenberger, Ted Nohl, Staci (Taylor) Zeltwanger, Jerry Nohl, Zeke, Oliver & Ruby Furrer, Larinda, Weston, Clayton, Kamron and Brooke Kellenberger along with 5 great-grandchildren; siblings, Rosella (Bob) Metzger of Rock Rapids, IA; Leroy (Lou) Kellenberger of Sioux Falls, SD; sister-in-law, Linda Kellenberger of Lester, IA; Calvin (Edna) Kellenberger of Lester, IA; Connie (Doug) Bergstrom of Lakeville, MN; Brad (Teresa) Kellenberger of Sabetha, KS; Susie (Doug) Messner of Eagan, MN; Curt (Martha) Kellenberger of Lamar, MO, and Ladell (Shelly) Kellenberger of Lester, IA.

     Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Elaine; 3 brothers, Ron, Orlan and Verlyn Kellenberger; sister-in-law, Mary Kellenberger and son-in-law, Jerry Nohl.
