      Dennis “Denny” Schoneman, age 72 of Ashton, IA died Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at Sibley Specialty Care in Sibley, IA.

     Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 2021, at the Jurrens Funeral Home in Ashton, IA, with Rev. David E. Loveall officiating. 

     Burial will follow in the Gilman Township Cemetery in Ashton.

     Public visitation with the family present will be Friday, June 11^th from 5:00 to 7:00 at the Jurrens Funeral Home in Ashton, IA.

     Dennis Ray Schoneman was born on December 29, 1948, rural Elgin Township, Lyon County, IA, the son of Fred and Anna (Jurrens) Schoneman.  He grew up on a farm near Little Rock, IA and attended school there.

     Denny moved to Ashton, IA in 1968 and worked for Sibley Egg and Poultry for three years, before he started working for the town of Ashton in 1971. 

     On February 7, 1986, he was united in marriage to Linda Jo Dickey at the Justice of Peace in Ames, IA.  To this union two sons were born, Christopher and Kelly.

     Denny was the city maintenance worker for forty-one years and served as the assistant fire chief for thirty-one years. 

     He was a member of the Town and Country and the Eagles Club in Sheldon, IA. He was classified as a hobby farmer and enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and working on Farmall tractors.

     Denny is survived by his wife of thirty-five years, Linda Schoneman of Ashton, IA; two sons, Christopher (wife Sandy) Schoneman of Lake Park, IA and Kelly Schoneman of Ashton, IA; sister-n-law, Doris Schoneman of Sibley, IA; and other extended family.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred, and Anna Schoneman; and two brothers, George and Eugene Schoneman.
