Delrae Bennett age 61 raised in Rock Rapids, IA, and most recently of Buffalo, WY died suddenly in a traffic accident on Thursday, August 12, 2021 in Johnson County, WY.
A memorial service will take place at 10:30 AM, Friday August 20, 2021 at the Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock, Iowa with Reverend Barry Wyveen, officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Little Rock.
Visitation will take place Thursday, August 19th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Salem Reformed Church.
Delrae Lynne Bennett was born on April 20, 1960, in Rock Rapids, IA, the daughter of Durvard and Carol (Sprock) Grave. She grew up on the Rock Rapids Airport where her father was Airport Commissioner and on the family farm near Rock Rapids, IA. She graduated from Central Lyon High School in Rock Rapids. She continued her education and graduated from South Dakota State in Brookings, SD, where she received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. In 1982 she was united in marriage to Orlynn Olson in the Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock, IA. To this union two sons, Chris and Nick, were born.
In 2014, Delrae married Robert Bennett in Abrams, WI. Delrae successfully owned and operated her own business as a software consultant and helped many businesses build and strengthen their financial reporting systems. She was a great mentor to many clients and coworkers and always gave them her best. Delrae and Robert were steadfast companions and did everything together. They loved each other deeply and had many friends.
Delrae enjoyed the outdoors, the mountains, yoga, traveling adventures, cooking and especially spending time with her family and grandkids. She was affectionately known as “Auntie Rae” by her nieces, Ashley, Leigha and Sarah Grave. She was proud of her upbringing as a farm girl from Iowa and lived her life to the fullest. She was smart, beautiful, and successful, had a kind heart, and lived a great life. She will be greatly missed.
Delrae is survived by her husband, Robert Bennett of Buffalo, WY; two sons, Chris (Ann) Olson of Palatine, IL and Nick (Christina) Olson of Sioux Falls, SD; four grandchildren, Nora, Amelia, Jackson and Charlize; two step children, Cody (Clara) Bennett of Green Bay, WI, and Luke Bennett of Green Bay, WI; three step grandchildren; Seraphim, Serenity and Rizen; her parents, Durvard and Carol Grave; three brothers, Craig Grave of Tucson, AZ, Eugene Grave of Spencer, IN and Doug Grave of Glenwood, IA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Carl and Grace Sprock; and paternal grandparents, George and Amelia Grave.
