Diane Bruns Feldkamp, was born on November 16, 1944 in Hull, Iowa, the daughter of Louis and Sadie (Reisser) Bruns. Her family lived on a farm in Lyon County, Iowa where Diane attended country school. Before starting the 4th grade, her family moved to Sutherland, IA. They later moved to Hartley, IA, and finally to Sheldon, IA where she graduated from high school in 1963.
For a short time, Diane attended St. Paul Bible College in St. Paul, MN, until she returned home to Sheldon after her family was in a serious car accident which took the life of her father. Diane cared for her three younger brothers while her mother recuperated from her injuries. In 1965, Diane married Harold Feldkamp of Sibley, IA. They farmed east of Sibley for all of their married lives, raising their four children there. Many foster children were also welcomed into their home.
Diane was an accomplished flutist. One of her highlights included a piccolo solo in “Stars and Stripes Forever” under the direction of conductor Karl King. Diane passed her love of music on to her family. She faithfully transported many children to music lessons and supported Life Light and other musical outreach events.
Diane has demonstrated what it means to be a Christ-follower. She served her Savior lovingly within her church and had spiritual eyes to see outside the church into the community. The foundation of her life was prayer. She kneeled to pray every morning even when the cancer had progressed, and she had strength to do little else. Diane poured her life into others. Her husband, children, grandchildren, foster children, and the many young women & girls she took under her wing rise up and call her blessed. Her legacy of love will live on for many years to come.
