     Donald Bunte age 93 of Rock Rapids, IA died Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at the Rock Rapids Health Centre in Rock Rapids, IA.

     Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Monday, August 19, 2019 at Jurrens Funeral Home in Rock Rapids, IA with Rev. Andrew Palmquist officiating. Private family burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids, IA.  

     Visitation will be Sunday, August 18^th from 2:00 until 8:00 PM with family present from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids.

Memorials may be directed to Kindred Hospice.

     Donald Duane Bunte was born August 27, 1925 near Rock Rapids, Iowa, the son of Henry and Lillian (Warner) Bunte.  He was raised on the family farm west of Rock Rapids and attended country school and graduated from Wilson High School in 1941.  As a young boy Don sang in church with his brother Paul, and were accompanied by their mother.  After completing his education, he remained on the family farm, and helped with the day to day farming operation.  After his father passed away Donald and his brother, Paul continued to run the family farm.

     Don was united in marriage to Vivian Tangeman on August 20, 1960 at Peace Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids.  Together they were blessed with four children, Michael, Pamela, David and Diane.  Don enjoyed playing cards, bus trips with Vivian, and playing accordion.  He also enjoyed Bowling League, square dancing and was an avid Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins fan. In 1988 Don and Vivian retired from farming and moved to their current home in Rock Rapids.  Don was a man of strong faith which permeated his actions and words throughout his life.  Don was absolutely devoted to his wife, Vivian, and always showed his children unconditional love.  Don was very caring and compassionate person, and continually put the needs of others before his own.

     In 2016 Don entered the Rock Rapids Health Centre and remained there until this past Wednesday, August 14, 2019, when he died at the age of 93.

     He is survived by his wife, Vivian Bunte of Rock Rapids, IA; three children, Michael (wife, Carol) Bunte of Sauk City, WI, Pamela (husband, Mike) Massa of Deadwood, SD and Diane (husband, Will) Vander Ploeg of Hospers, IA; six grandchildren, James Haasch, Rebecca Hony, Jennifer (Aaron) Tabbert, Kristel Schneider, Breanna (Dan) Vreugdenhil, and Brooke Vander Ploeg ; nine great-grandchildren Heidi Haasch, Trevor Haasch, Joseph Haasch, Ayla Meinder, Aiden Tabbert, Ezra Tabbert, Ivy Tabbert, Zion Schneider, and Jazmyn Schneider; and several nieces, nephews and other extended family.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lillian (Warner) Bunte; son, David Bunte; and brother, Paul Bunte.
