Donald E Drenth

Adrian, MN      Donald E. Drenth, age 96 of Adrian, MN passed on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Ava’s Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD.        Family and friends will gather at the church on Saturday, December 15th and proceed to the church cemetery at 1:30 PM for the committal service.      A memorial service will be at 2:30 PM, Saturday, December 15th at Bethel Reformed Church, rural Little Rock, IA, with Rev. Paul Snyder officiating.      Visitation will be Friday, December 14th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Bethel Reformed Church.      Donald Earl Drenth was born January 10, 1922 on a farm near Boyden, IA, the son of Alex and Anna (Brommer) Drenth. When he was young, his family moved to Santa Anna, CA, where he was baptized. His family later moved back to Boyden and then lived on various farms in the Adrian and Ellsworth areas. He received his education at a country school near Ellsworth. He received his religious education at the Zion Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth, MN.      On December 18, 1946, Donald married Alma De Boer at the parsonage of Bethel Reformed Church of Little Rock. Their first farm home was south of Ellsworth, MN, where they farmed for two years and then moved to their farm home southwest of Adrian. Donald and Alma enjoyed their life on the farm. Donald also provided custom farming to area farmers.      Donald transferred his membership to Bethel Reformed Church in 1948. He was a faithful member, taught Sunday school, Catechism, served as an elder and he and Alma also were Reformed Church Youth Fellowship leaders. Donald served on several community boards and was especially proud of serving on the Nobles Township Board, for twenty-six years.      On February 15, 2016, Don's wife of sixty-nine years, Alma passed on. Donald became a resident of Parkview Manor on November 8, 2016, although he continued to be involved with family farming until the day he died. He enjoyed visiting with people, playing BINGO and he will be remembered for his witty sense of humor. This past Wednesday afternoon, December 12, 2018, Donald passed on at Ava’s Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD, at the age of 96. He will be greatly missed!      Donald is survived by his two daughters, Pam (Kevin) Nelson of Wilmar, MN and Sherri Halvorson of Morgan, MN; seven grandchildren, Miranda (Joe) Ahrenholz of Prinsburg, MN, Monica Nelson, and Tanya (Jesus) Bazaldua of Wilmar, MN, Nicole (Cory) Welter of St. Coud, MN, Justin Halvorson of Morgan, MN, Jordan Halvorson of Redwood, MN and Joshua Halvorson of Hastings, MN; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Louise Noll of Luverne, MN; three brothers, Harold Drenth of Arkasas, Orville “Whitey” Drenth of Rock Rapids, IA and Stan (Jeri) Drenth of Sioux Falls, SD; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.      He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Anna Drenth; and his wife, Alma Drenth; and brother, Ervin Drenth.
